Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks are one of the most prominent college athletic programs in the United States — and one of the only major college brands that Oregon residents cannot legally bet on. This page is informational only; all NCAA wagering is prohibited in Oregon under the college betting ban.

Why You Can't Bet on the Ducks in Oregon

The Oregon Lottery, which contracts DraftKings as the state's exclusive online sportsbook, derives its constitutional purpose from funding state universities — including the University of Oregon. Allowing wagering on the same institutions the Lottery funds was deemed a conflict of interest. Tribal sportsbooks at Spirit Mountain, The Mill, and others adopted the same restriction.

The result: the Ducks' national title runs, Civil War rivalries against Oregon State, College Football Playoff appearances, and March Madness berths are all off the board in their home state.

Notable Oregon Ducks Programs

  • Football: Multiple Rose Bowl appearances, 2014 national championship game, consistent top-25 program
  • Men's basketball: 2017 Final Four; Matthew Knight Arena was Phil Knight's gift to the program
  • Track & field: Historically dominant program — Eugene hosted the 2022 World Athletics Championships
  • Women's basketball: Sabrina Ionescu's program (2016–2020)

The 2024 Big Ten Move

Oregon left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten in 2024 as part of the conference realignment that effectively ended the Pac-12 as a major football conference. The move significantly raised the national profile of Ducks football — and made the Oregon college betting ban even more conspicuous, as Ducks games are now nationally televised Big Ten broadcasts that are bettable in virtually every other state.

Your Alternatives

Daily fantasy sports in Oregon does include college contests at most operators (PrizePicks, DraftKings Fantasy, Underdog) — one of the few legal ways to wager money on Ducks performance. Some Oregon residents also travel to Washington, which permits college betting at tribal sportsbooks.
