DraftKings Oregon — Android App Guide
DraftKings on Android is straightforward when available through the Google Play Store, but Google's historical real-money-gambling restrictions have sometimes forced US bettors to sideload the APK directly from DraftKings' website. This guide covers both paths and common Android-specific issues in Oregon.
- Primary SourceGoogle Play (US/Oregon)
- FallbackAPK sideload from sportsbook.draftkings.com
- Android RequiredAndroid 9+ (recommended)
- Storage~200 MB
- GeolocationDraftKings Location Plugin (auto-installed)
- Min Age21+
Option A: Google Play Store (Preferred)
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
- Search for "DraftKings Sportsbook & Casino" — be sure you're getting Sportsbook (not Fantasy)
- Tap Install
- Open the app and accept Location permissions
If DraftKings doesn't appear in your Play Store results (occasionally happens on certain Android builds), use Option B.
Option B: APK Sideload
- Open Chrome on your Android device and go to sportsbook.draftkings.com
- Tap the menu and select "Download for Android" — this downloads a DraftKings APK file
- When prompted, allow Chrome (or your browser) to install apps from unknown sources
- Open the APK and tap Install
- You'll also be prompted to install the DraftKings Location Plugin — required for geolocation. Install both.
Sideloaded apps don't auto-update through Play Store. You'll need to manually re-download the APK when DraftKings releases an update (the app will prompt you).
Common Android Issues
- "App not installed" error during APK install — usually means a previous version is installed. Uninstall the old one first.
- Location Plugin not installed — the main app won't function without it. If sideloading, both must install.
- "Location services disabled" — Settings → Location → ensure it's On and set to "High accuracy" (uses Wi-Fi + GPS)
- Battery optimization killing background processes — some Android skins aggressively kill apps. Add DraftKings to your battery optimization whitelist.
- Geolocation false negatives near the WA border — particularly common in Portland north areas. Toggle Wi-Fi off and use cellular only, or relocate.
