Betting Prohibited

Oregon State Beavers

The Oregon State Beavers represent Oregon State University in Corvallis. Like the Oregon Ducks, the Beavers are completely off the betting board in their home state — the college betting ban applies to all NCAA programs without exception.

Why You Can't Bet on the Beavers in Oregon

Oregon State is a state university, and Oregon Lottery proceeds — which fund the state's DraftKings sports betting platform — also fund OSU. The state determined that allowing wagering on the same institutions it funds was an unacceptable conflict of interest. The restriction applies to all NCAA games (not just Beavers home games), which is why no Oregonian can bet on March Madness, the College Football Playoff, or the College World Series — even when OSU isn't playing.

Notable Oregon State Programs

  • Baseball: Three College World Series national titles (2006, 2007, 2018) — one of the most successful college baseball programs of the 21st century
  • Football: Reser Stadium recently expanded; the program had a strong 2022–2023 run before the Pac-12 collapse
  • Basketball: Historic program; Gary Payton's alma mater
  • Women's basketball: Sustained success under Scott Rueck

The Pac-12 Collapse

When Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA left for other conferences in 2024, Oregon State was one of the schools left without a major-conference home. The Beavers have operated in an unusual scheduling structure since, and the conference's long-term future remains uncertain. None of this changes the Oregon betting prohibition.

The Civil War Rivalry

Oregon vs. Oregon State — long known as The Civil War — is one of the oldest rivalries in college football. Bettors in virtually every other US state can wager on Civil War games. Oregonians cannot.

Your Alternatives

Daily fantasy sports contests in Oregon do include college options at most operators. This is the only legal way to put money on Beavers performance from within the state.
